Welcome to the official Instructors Guide for part-time lecturers at OUK. This checklist ensures a smooth transition through onboarding, teaching, and assessment workflows.
1. On-Boarding
Administrative & System Setup
Receive Course Allocations from the Head of Department: Course Code and Course Name.
Activate official OUK email (ICT onboarding required) from your personal email account.
Obtain MyOUK login credentials from your OUK email account.
Submit passport-size photo (official records & University profile).
Outcome: Full system access before teaching begins.
2. Facilitation / Teaching
Pre-Teaching Checks
Review your course on the LMS before students access it.
Validate:
Content accuracy
Links
Activity settings
Flag errors for update immediately.
LMS Course Configuration
Set appropriate restriction settings (date, groups, conditional access).
Configure completion tracking conditions for activities.
Compliance & Policy Requirements
Do NOT delete any content from the LMS. Deletion of course materials violates institutional policy.
Course materials must not be shared outside the LMS (e.g., email, WhatsApp, external drives). All teaching and learning resources must remain strictly within the SOMAS LMS environment.
For any required changes, escalations, or clarifications, formally reach out to the HoD or ICT support team.
